Deal Spotlights

Safe Life

Who they are

A leading global distributor of automated external defibrillators (AED) for out-of-hospital settings and a provider of training and maintenance services, which increases public access and readiness to respond to cardiac emergencies.

Why it matters

Safe Life expands public access to life-saving AEDs and training, addressing this urgent public health challenge in a rapidly growing, underpenetrated global market.

The HL advantage

Given our pre-existing relationship with the sponsor and our impact alignment, we were approached with the opportunity and the largest co-investment allocation available.

The bottom line

As the dominant market player, the company is well-positioned to capture additional market share and expand internationally, while increasing public access and readiness to respond to cardiac emergencies.

GFL Environmental Services

Who they are

A scaled, vertically integrated provider of essential environmental solutions across the U.S. and Canada, offering sustainable and cost-effective services in liquid waste management and soil remediation.

Why it matters

The company addresses critical needs in an increasingly regulated environment, with services essential for municipalities, industries and commercial enterprises. Industrial customers rely on GFL Environmental Services to maintain environmental best practices in accordance with sustainability goals and growing waste regulations in both Canada and the U.S.

The HL advantage

We leveraged our relationship with the sponsor to gain early access, as well as a significant share of the co-investment opportunity. Our speed and execution certainty facilitated this complex, competitive transaction, enabling a structured senior equity position designed to provide meaningful downside protection.

The bottom line

The company is well positioned to benefit from strong tailwinds in the environmental services industry. Its vertically integrated model and robust, concentrated asset base present a clear competitive advantage and enable high recurring revenue streams.

Odyssey Behavioral Healthcare

Who they are

A leading national provider of behavioral health treatment programs for patients diagnosed with sub-acute mental health and eating disorders.

Why it matters

Due to an increased prevalence of mental health and eating disorder diagnoses and treatment utilization, provider supply does not currently meet the demand for services. Odyssey Behavioral Healthcare represents a scaled national platform that offers a broad range of care for various behavioral health diagnoses, addressing gaps in regions with insufficient resources.
