Mary Kate Leonard
Mary Kate serves as Senior Legal Counsel on our Client Legal team, where she works on private investment products, separate managed accounts, evergreen funds, customized client agreements, and other legal matters.
Prior to joining Hamilton Lane in 2025, Mary Kate served as Chief Capital Officer at the multifamily real estate investment firm Bel Canto Asset Growth Fund, where she helped build fundraising processes and relationships. From 2016 to 2022, Mary Kate worked in Blackstone’s Multi-Asset Investing Group, where she focused on customized and commingled fund launches and deal execution. Mary Kate began her career as an associate in the Investment Funds group at Sidley Austin.
Mary Kate received a J.D. from Georgetown Law, an LL.M. in Chinese Law from Tsinghua University, and a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the state bar in Pennsylvania and New York.
