  • Company welcomes back Cristo Rey students and celebrates 10-year anniversary partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence Region

Bala Cynwyd, Penn. – Leading private markets asset management firm Hamilton Lane (NASDAQ: HLNE) has once again partnered with Cristo Rey Philadelphia for the 2018-2019 school year. Cristo Rey is an independent, Catholic college preparatory school for students of all faiths who could not otherwise access a private education. As a job partner, Hamilton Lane will host student-interns at its Bala Cynwyd headquarters as part of the Cristo Rey curriculum that combines rigorous academics with professional on-site work experience in the form of a work-study program.

One of the primary goals of the work-study program is to help students develop lifelong skills and create professional networks that they can carry with them to and beyond college. As part of the partnership, Hamilton Lane has made a financial commitment to the school that funds 65 percent of each student intern’s tuition.

This month also marks the 10-year anniversary of the firm’s Beyond School Walls workplace mentoring program with Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence Region (BBBS Independence), where Hamilton Lane employees are matched with students at Mastery Shoemaker High School in West Philadelphia to serve as mentors. Over the last decade, nearly 130 students have been mentored by Hamilton Lane employees. BBBS Independence is a donor-supported organization that enriches and empowers children to reach their highest potential through safe, one-to-one mentoring relationships.

“We’re glad to be partnering again with Cristo Rey and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Over the years we’ve observed the benefits – on both sides – that can come from helping to educate, encourage and support underserved or diverse populations, and are happy to be playing even a small role in teaching and inspiring future generations,” said Mario Giannini, CEO of Hamilton Lane.

“We’re grateful for Hamilton Lane’s support in helping to create a positive academic, social and financial experience for our students,” said John McConnell, Founder and President of Cristo Rey Philadelphia. “The partnerships with local firms like Hamilton Lane are incredibly important in ensuring that we’re able to offer the rewarding and unique work-study program as part of our curriculum each year.”

“Our program would not exist without partners like Hamilton Lane, whose employees have provided mentorship, support and encouragement to so many of our students over the years,” said Marcus Allen, CEO of BBBS Independence. “We’re thankful for the dedication of the team at Hamilton Lane and look forward to continuing the partnership for many years to come.”

Hamilton Lane is deeply committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment within Hamilton Lane as well as across the industry. To that end, Hamilton Lane also partners with Girls Who Invest, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the number of women in portfolio management and executive leadership in the asset management industry. In addition, the firm hosts an annual Undergraduate Women’s Private Equity Summit, welcoming a select group of sophomore and junior women from several Philadelphia-area colleges and universities for an educational and networking event.
