Ruth Thomson
Counsel
Ruth serves as Counsel in the Tax Department, where she and her team are responsible for tax review, diligence and negotiation of investments by Hamilton Lane products and clients.
Prior to joining Hamilton Lane in 2025, she worked as a tax associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he focused on investment fund formations. Ruth previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Carlos F. Lucero of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and also worked as a corporate associate at Jackson Walker, L.L.P.
Ruth received a J.D. with high honors from the University of Chicago Law School and an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Case Western Reserve University. She is a member of the state bars of New Jersey, Illinois, and Texas.
