Sydney, 25 February 2022 – Hamilton Lane (NASDAQ: HLNE), a leading private markets investment management firm, announced today that its Global Private Assets Fund (AUD) has received a Highly Recommended rating from Zenith Investment Partners (“Zenith”), Australia’s leading independent research provider.
This is the highest rating that a fund manager can receive in Australia and only some 5 per cent of the funds in the ‘Alternatives’ category have received this coveted rating.
In its review of the Hamilton Lane Global Private Assets (“GPA”) Fund, Zenith said its conviction had increased in line with a growing confidence in the quality of the investment team and further maturation of the portfolio and investor base.
James Martin, Hamilton Lane’s Australian Country Head, said Australian sophisticated investors were increasingly interested in opportunities in private markets given the potential for returns and diversification they offer.
“While private assets have long been accessible to institutional investors, through the Global Private Assets Fund we’ve made them available for a broader group of investors both large and small,” he said. “The GPA Fund provides investors with a set of institutional-quality transactions that were previously difficult for individuals to access. We have addressed the traditional constraints of illiquidity and large minimum investment amounts, enabling a broader range of investors to access the private markets.”
The GPA Fund aims to generate returns of between 10% and 12% a year (net of fees) over rolling five-year periods, with low volatility (as measured by Standard Deviation). The Australian Dollar Hedged share class has returned 15.9% (net) annualised since inception and has assets of over $1 billion AUD as of 31 December 2021. To achieve this, Hamilton Lane invests across a mix primarily of private equity direct/co-investments, secondaries, and to a lesser extent, Direct Credit and Opportunistic investments. The Fund focuses on investments in buyouts, venture capital & growth equity, and private credit investments.
The Fund is available on most major platforms, including BT Panorama, HUB24, IOOF, CFS Firstwrap, Macquarie Wrap, Mason Stevens and MLC Wrap.
Hamilton Lane is one of the world’s largest private capital investors, managing or advising on over a trillion AUD of private markets investments as of 31 December 2021.
