Hiroo Nozawa Hiroo “Hiro” Nozawa is a Director who heads Hamilton Lane’s Tokyo office. He plays a significant role in client management and new product activity. Prior to joining the firm, Hiro was a member of the Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (then The Mitsubishi Bank and Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi) for five years. He spent many years in developing international finance businesses of the bank on a global basis, such as project finance, syndicated loans, M&A and derivatives. He also took leadership in strengthening the bank group’s capital market activities.
Hiro was also active in the relationship banking arena. He was a General Manager of the Head Office of the bank and managed the bank’s subsidiary on the West Coast, The Bank of California (now Union Bank of California), as its Chairman, President and CEO. After he left the bank, he managed Mitsubishi Research Institute DCS Co., Ltd. as its Deputy President, President and Senior Advisor.
Hiro received a M.S. from the Sloan School of Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a B.A. in Commercial Science from Waseda University in Tokyo.
